The SECO 03083802 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill built for demanding metal removal in stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It carries a 1-inch mill diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 0.0300-inch corner radius that protects the cutting edge and reduces chipping at entry and exit. The AlTiN coating, applied via PVD process, provides high-temperature hardness and oxidation resistance suited to the elevated heat generated when machining difficult alloys. With four flutes, a variable helix, and a high helix angle of 40 degrees, the tool balances chip evacuation with surface finish in both roughing and finishing passes. It is a single-end, centercutting design and accepts standard straight-cylindrical toolholders.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers and milling machines in job shops, aerospace component shops, and any production environment where stainless steel, superalloys, or hard materials are primary workpiece materials. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry where required. The STR440.2 series is designed for high-performance milling where tool life in abrasive or work-hardening materials is a priority. Machinists and CNC programmers working with Inconel, titanium alloys, hardened steels, and similar materials will find the coating and micrograin carbide substrate appropriate for these applications.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders. Suitable for CNC milling applications in stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as noted in the STR440.2 series specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle locked before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank are clean and free of chips or coolant residue before assembly. Verify runout against the stated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after mounting to maintain cutting performance and tool life.
