The SECO 03080821 is a 2xD indexable insert drill designed for general-purpose drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built on the SD522 platform, it accepts two indexable inserts — compatible styles SPGX and SCGX — to deliver repeatable cutting performance without regrinding. The drill body is constructed from steel with a 32mm Weldon Flat and Flange shank for secure tool holding. Maximum drill depth reaches 78mm, with a nominal drilling diameter of 39mm and a maximum drill diameter of 40.01mm. Coolant is delivered through an axial concentric entry, supporting chip evacuation and thermal control during deep-hole operations. Right-hand cutting direction. Intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC and manual drilling setups.
The 03080821 is suited for production drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials where consistent hole quality and insert indexability reduce downtime. The SD522 series platform is a common choice in job shop and production environments where operators need a reliable general-purpose drill body that accepts standard SPGX and SCGX insert geometries. The Weldon Flat and Flange shank interface provides rotational security in driven toolholders, making it appropriate for vertical machining centers and drill presses equipped with compatible collets or holders sized for a 32mm shank.
Compatible with SPGX12T3 and SCGX11T308 indexable inserts. Insert lock screw C03508-T15P. Designed for use with SD522-series toolholders and collets or holders accepting a 32mm shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or dismounting the drill body. Seat the Weldon Flat shank fully into the holder and torque the drive screw according to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Verify insert seating and lock screw engagement before initiating a cut, and confirm coolant lines are clear and delivering adequate flow through the axial entry port.
