The SECO 03080519 is an indexable insert drill designed for general-purpose drilling operations in metal fabrication, machining, and industrial manufacturing environments. Built to the PerfoMAX series standard, this drill body accepts two indexable inserts and delivers a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio, reaching a maximum drill depth of 3 inches in a 1 inch diameter. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1-1/4 inches in diameter and 2.75 inches in length. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in high-feed applications. The steel body is engineered for rigidity and consistent insert positioning across production runs.
This drill is suited for right-hand cutting operations on CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and drill presses where indexable tooling is preferred over solid carbide. The PerfoMAX platform is commonly used in general-purpose drilling of steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. It accepts compatible insert styles SCGX and SPGX in size codes 0703 and 070308, making it a practical choice for shops already running those insert families. The modular connection size is R7-C.
Compatible with drill style SD523. Accepts indexable insert styles SCGX and SPGX in size codes 0703 and 070308. Modular connection size R7-C. Compatible insert specification reference: SPGX0703.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the insert clamping screw to secure inserts — do not overtighten by hand estimation. Confirm shank runout and holder fit before starting a drilling cycle to avoid insert damage or workpiece deviation.
