The SECO 03080497 is an indexable insert drill from the PerfoMAX series, designed for general-purpose drilling applications in metal-cutting environments. Built on a straight cylindrical shank with a 1 inch shank diameter, this drill body accepts two indexable inserts and is engineered for right-hand cutting. The maximum drill diameter is 3/4 inch (0.7500 inch decimal, 19.97 mm), and the tool delivers a maximum drill depth of 2-1/4 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Compatible insert styles include SCGX and SPGX, giving the technician flexibility in insert selection based on workpiece material and surface finish requirements. Tool body material is steel.
This drill is suited for production and job-shop drilling operations where indexable tooling is preferred over brazed or solid-carbide options. The PerfoMAX series is a general-purpose platform commonly used on CNC machining centers and lathes with live tooling. The straight cylindrical shank and modular connection size R7 make this body compatible with standard toolholding systems. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management during deep-hole drilling cycles at rated depth.
Compatible with drill style SD523. Accepts SCGX and SPGX indexable inserts in size codes 050204 and 0602, including SPGX0602 series inserts. Designed for use with toolholding systems accepting a 1 inch straight cylindrical shank and modular connection size R7.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the drill body. Verify insert seating and screw torque according to the insert manufacturer specifications before initiating a cutting cycle. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and coolant pressure is within the machine and toolholder rated range before running at depth.
