The SECO 03080314 is a right-hand indexable insert drill designed for general-purpose drilling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built to the SD524 series specification, it accepts two indexable inserts and delivers a maximum drill diameter of 1.274 inches (32.31 mm) with a maximum drill depth of 5 inches at a 4xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The straight shank features a Weldon flat and flange configuration with a 1.5-inch shank diameter, providing secure tool holding in standard drill chucks and holders. Coolant is delivered through an axial concentric entry port, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in continuous drilling applications. The tool body is constructed from steel and weighs approximately 5.556 pounds.
This indexable drill is suited for production machining, job shop drilling, and maintenance applications where repeatable hole sizing is required. It is used in CNC machining centers and manual drilling setups capable of accepting a 1.5-inch Weldon-flat shank. The SD524 series design supports general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The modular connection size is R7, and the overall tool length is 8.806 inches, with a flute length of 5.197 inches and a body length of 6.181 inches.
Compatible with SD524 drill series inserts in styles SPGX and SCGX, specifically insert size codes 11T3 and 09T308 (SPGX11T3 and SCGX09T308). Designed for use in tool holders and spindles accepting a 1.5-inch Weldon flat and flange straight shank with R7 modular connection.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle and tool holder are powered down and brought to a full stop before inserting or removing the drill body. Verify that the Weldon flat shank is fully seated and clamping screws are properly torqued per the machine tool manufacturer specifications. Inspect and replace indexable inserts per the insert manufacturer guidelines before each use to maintain hole tolerance and surface finish.
