The SECO 03064531 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMA series, designed for high-performance metal cutting in CNC and conventional turning applications. It carries the ANSI insert code CNMA433 and ISO code CNMA120412. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer Duratomic coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — which delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting geometry, while the flat-top chip breaker and chamfered, honed cutting edge support consistent chip control. Four cutting edges are available per insert, making it an efficient choice for production turning environments.
This insert is suited for facing, boring, and turning operations on cast iron, steel, and stainless steel. Its TK1501 grade targets high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness across P, M, and K workpiece material classifications. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production shops, job shops, and maintenance machining environments where consistent surface finish and tool life on ferrous materials are priorities. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard CNMA-style toolholders without a directional bias.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for CNMA433 inserts used in standard CNMA-series toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods with a negative rake, neutral-hand insert geometry.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp hardware for the toolholder style — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating the insert, and confirm secure clamping before resuming cutting operations.
