The SECO 03062803 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the DNMU332-M3 industry standard designation and features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a 1/32 inch corner radius. The TK1501 grade uses a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — delivering high wear resistance across a broad hardness range. The M3 chip breaker geometry supports both finishing and medium machining operations. With four cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, this insert suits a wide range of turning, facing, boring, and back-turning applications.
This insert is intended for machining steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and K. The M3 chip breaker makes it a practical choice for shops running varied stock removal depths up to a maximum depth of cut of 0.4252 inches. It is installed by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments where consistent tool life and predictable chip control are priorities. The insert is held using a clamp, pin, or lever-lock system depending on the toolholder configuration in use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit insert for DNMU-series toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 55-degree diamond insert with ANSI size code 332 and tolerance/clearance codes M and N respectively. Suitable for steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpiece materials per ISO designation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer for clamp, pin, or lever-lock mounting — do not over-tighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new cutting edge.
