The SECO 03046336 is a solid carbide jobber-length twist drill designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hard materials. It carries a TiAlN coating that extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. The drill measures 17/64 inch (0.2656 inches) in diameter with a 140-degree split-point geometry that reduces thrust, promotes self-centering, and minimizes walking on entry. Overall length is 3.5827 inches (91.00 mm), and the spiral flute configuration clears chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. This is a right-hand cutting tool in the SD205A series, suitable for CNC machining centers and manual drill presses where consistent hole quality is required.
This drill is rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, and H. The 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling depths up to 2.0866 inches (53.00 mm) in a single operation without peck cycling on many applications. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.3150-inch (8.00 mm) diameter seats directly in standard drill chucks or collet toolholders. It is used in production machining, tool rooms, maintenance shops, and fabrication environments where tight-tolerance hole geometry is required.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held drilling equipment accepting a 0.3150-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials per ISO material groups P, M, K, and H. Part of the SECO SD205A series.
Installation and use of this drill should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with speeds, feeds, and clamping requirements for solid carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of runout before seating the shank, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading from poor setup. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; use external flood or mist coolant where the workpiece material and cutting conditions require it. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when securing workpieces and selecting cutting parameters.
