The SECO 02960918 is a VBMT332-M3 series turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. Designated grade TP2501, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch corner radius. It carries a neutral hand orientation and a positive rake geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge. With 2 cutting edges per insert and an M3 chip breaker, it is engineered for productive material removal in steel and stainless steel turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Installation and setup are performed by qualified machining professionals.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning applications including back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning on ferrous workpieces. Its primary workpiece material designation is steel (ISO P), with secondary ratings for stainless steel (ISO M) and cast iron (ISO K). The insert is compatible with screw-lock VBMT-style toolholders. Material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 are covered, making it a practical choice for a broad range of steel alloy conditions encountered in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in screw-lock VBMT-style toolholders accepting a 332 insert size. Fits standard VBMT boring bars and external turning holders conforming to ANSI and ISO VBMT160408 specifications.
Indexing and insert changes are performed by machinists or tooling technicians with the machine powered off and all axes at rest. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure when securing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Follow your facility's lockout/tagout procedures before any tooling change on a live machine.
