The SECO 02960913 is a DCMT-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning and boring applications. It carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade and features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — engineered to extend tool life in steel and stainless steel cutting environments. The insert has a 55-degree diamond shape, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. With 2 cutting edges and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, it delivers consistent chip control and dimensional accuracy across a range of material grades from P10 through P35.
This insert is suited for general-purpose external turning, facing, boring, and back turning on CNC lathes and turning centers used in production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary applications in stainless steel and cast iron. The M3 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation at moderate depths of cut, making it appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes in mid-range material grades. It complies with ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO code DCMT070204-M3.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment for DCMT-series turning toolholders that accept a 55-degree diamond insert with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, screw-on clamping, and C clearance code. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under industry standard number DCMT21.51-M3 and ISO code DCMT070204-M3.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Verify insert seating and orientation before resuming cutting operations.
