The SECO 02960899 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe operations. It carries the DCMT432-M3 industry standard designation and the TP1501 manufacturer grade, featuring a Duratomic CVD coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended wear resistance and thermal stability. The 55-degree diamond insert shape (Shape Code D) provides a sharp, defined cutting geometry with a 1/32-inch corner radius and a chamfered and honed cutting edge. The M3 chip breaker geometry supports consistent chip control across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in production turning, facing, boring, and back-turning applications.
This insert is suited for primary use on steel workpieces (ISO material code P, material grades P10 and P20) and is also rated for cast iron and hard materials (ISO codes K and H). The DCMT series geometry with the M3 chip breaker performs well in both roughing and semi-finishing passes, particularly in applications where consistent chip evacuation and tool life are priorities. It mounts via screw-holding method and delivers two usable cutting edges per insert, making it cost-effective in high-cycle production environments.
Designed for use in standard DCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 55-degree diamond insert with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle. Suitable for back turning, boring, facing, and turning operations on steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code DCMT150408-M3.
This insert is seated and secured by a machinist or CNC operator using the appropriate DCMT screw-clamp toolholder. Power down the machine and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use a torx or hex key sized for the clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper seating and cutting geometry.
