The SECO 02960849 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the industry standard designation CCMT32.51-FF1 and is manufactured to the TP2501 grade using a CVD-applied Duratomic coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. The 80-degree diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry suited for moderate-to-heavy stock removal. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a positive rake angle, this insert is optimized for turning, facing, and boring in steel and related ferrous materials. The FF1 chip breaker controls chip flow across a wide range of feed rates and depths.
This insert is intended for production and job-shop machining environments where consistent performance on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron is required. It is suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes, particularly in applications where chip control and surface finish repeatability matter. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard CCMT-style toolholders in right-hand or left-hand configurations without repositioning. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3661 inches, giving the insert adequate range for both light finishing and medium roughing operations on P, M, and K material groups per ISO classification.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.1772-inch hole diameter. Compatible with workpiece materials classified as P10, P20, P30, and P35 (steel primary), M-group (stainless steel), and K-group (cast iron) per ISO material coding.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the manufacturer-specified torque driver for CCMT screw-clamp toolholders. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and verify the locating pin engages the insert hole before tightening the clamping screw. Inspect the pocket and shim for debris or wear each time an insert is indexed or replaced to maintain dimensional accuracy.
