The SECO 02960834 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC turning, boring, and facing operations. It features a Duratomic CVD multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — in the TP2501 grade, optimized for cutting steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape (C), a 0.25 inch inscribed circle, a 0.0079 inch corner radius, and a positive rake geometry with an FF1 chip breaker. With two cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, it delivers consistent chip control and edge durability in production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for light-to-medium turning operations on steel (ISO material code P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpieces. The FF1 chip breaker geometry performs well in finishing and semi-finishing passes. Applicable operations include external and internal turning, facing, and boring on CNC lathes and turning centers. The screw-holding method requires a compatible CCMT toolholder. The insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; the ISO code is CCMT060202-FF1 and the industry standard number is CCMT21.50.5-FF1.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO CCMT060202-FF1 standards. Primary workpiece material is steel (P10, P20, P30, P35); secondary materials are stainless steel and cast iron.
Installation is performed by a CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to the correct feel — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert seat and screw threads for chips or damage before seating a new insert.
