The SECO 02960748 is a WNMG332-MF5 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a Duratomic multilayer system of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. Designated grade TP2501, the insert carries an 80-degree trigon (W) shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake geometry. The MF5 chip breaker is engineered for medium to light finishing passes on steel and stainless steel. With six available cutting edges per insert, it delivers a low cost-per-edge value for production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert in indexable toolholders sized for the WNMG platform.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes in both job-shop and production settings. Primary target materials are steel grades within ISO material groups P10, P20, P30, and P35. Secondary applications cover stainless steel (ISO group M) and cast iron (ISO group K). The chamfered and honed cutting edge style reduces micro-chipping at entry and exit, making it appropriate for interrupted cuts and variable stock conditions common in general machining and component finishing work.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for WNMG332-MF5 platform indexable toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods. Suitable for use in turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces per ISO material codes P, M, and K.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket and verify the holding clamp or lever lock is torqued according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear that could cause insert rocking before each index.
