The SECO 02960546 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — it is engineered for productive cutting in steel and cast iron applications. The insert features a 3/4-inch (0.7500 inch) inscribed circle, a 1/16-inch (0.0630 inch) corner radius, and an 80-degree diamond shape with a negative rake geometry. The MR7 chip breaker and T-Land cutting edge style support controlled chip formation across a range of feeds and depths. Four usable cutting edges make this a multi-tipped, cost-effective option for production turning environments.
This insert is suited for roughing, semi-finishing, facing, boring, and turning operations on steel workpieces and secondary materials including cast iron and hard materials. It falls within material grade classifications P10 and P20, making it appropriate for general and medium-duty steel turning. The insert is held using clamp, pin, or lever-lock toolholding systems and is compatible with standard CNMG-format pockets. The neutral hand orientation allows use in a range of toolholder configurations. Typical applications include high-volume production turning on manual or CNC turning equipment in industrial machine shops.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool setters following standard indexable insert change procedures. Power down or lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten clamping screws. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before seating a new insert edge.
