The SECO 02960535 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SNMG-MR7 series, designed for high-productivity metal cutting in CNC turning applications. It carries the manufacturer grade designation TP2501 and features a Duratomic CVD coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr layers, which extends tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The insert has a 3/4 inch inscribed circle, a 3/64 inch corner radius, and a 90-degree square shape with a negative rake geometry and T-Land cutting edge style. Eight cutting edges are available per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost in production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders for boring, facing, and turning operations.
This insert is suited for medium to heavy roughing and semi-finishing passes on steel and stainless steel workpieces, with secondary capability on cast iron. Material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 cover a broad range of steel applications. The MR7 chip breaker geometry manages chip control across varying depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.7008 inches. The neutral hand orientation and SNMG industry-standard form factor allow fitment in a wide range of square-insert toolholders used in production turning cells and manual lathes. This insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO code of SNMG190612-MR7.
Designed for use in SNMG-style square-insert toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary materials are stainless steel (ISO M) and cast iron (ISO K). Suitable for material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket before engaging the clamping mechanism, and inspect the pocket for chips or debris that could cause improper seating. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for the grade and workpiece material combination in use.
