The SECO 02960435 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TCMT-M3 series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries the industry standard designation TCMT432-M3 and is manufactured to grade TP2501 with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life and thermal resistance. The triangular insert geometry provides 3 usable cutting edges, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. Relief angle is 7 degrees with a positive rake and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. The M3 chip breaker geometry is suited for moderate depth-of-cut finishing and semi-finishing passes on steel and similar materials.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations on steel as the primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with the ISO equivalent designation TCMT220408-M3. The screw-holding method and standard TCMT pocket geometry make it compatible with a wide range of commercial turning toolholders. It is rated for material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35, covering a broad range of steel cutting conditions from light finishing to moderate roughing.
