The SECO 02960075 is an SNMG432-MF2 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a multilayer Duratomic system of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries the TP1501 manufacturer grade, targeting steel and cast iron machining in finishing and semi-finishing operations. The insert features a 90-degree square shape, negative rake, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0315 inch corner radius. With 8 cutting edges per insert and an MF2 chip breaker geometry, it is suited for high-productivity turning, boring, and facing on CNC lathes and turning centers. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians are the primary users.
This insert is designed for primary use on steel workpieces at P10 and P20 material grades, with secondary suitability for cast iron and hard materials. It fits boring, facing, and turning applications in both production-shop and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both right-hand and left-hand toolholders that accept SNMG-style inserts. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style supports stable chip control and edge integrity during moderate to light depths of cut in steel components and gray or ductile cast iron.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for SNMG-style toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch inscribed circle square insert with a 0.2028 inch hole diameter, compatible with clamp, pin, and lever-lock retention systems.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians following standard indexable insert procedures. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque-rated clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer for SNMG-style seats. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert to prevent premature edge failure.
