The SECO 02960042 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNMG-FF2 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. This insert carries the TP1501 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer CVD Duratomic coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — that delivers thermal resistance and extended tool life during steel and cast iron machining. The insert has a 35-degree diamond shape (V), a negative rake angle, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch corner radius. Four usable cutting edges make this a multi-tipped insert, reducing cost per edge in production environments.
This insert is suited for general-purpose CNC turning operations on steel (ISO P) and secondary workpiece materials including cast iron and hard materials (ISO K and H). The FF2 chip breaker geometry supports finishing and fine finishing applications. Typical operations include back turning, facing, profiling, and straight turning. It is intended for use with toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods on VNMG-style inserts. The TP1501 grade targets P10 and P20 material grade classifications, making it well-suited for continuous to lightly interrupted cuts in carbon and alloy steels.

Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping specifications for the selected holding method — clamp, pin, or lever lock.
