The SECO 02960019 is a DNMG431-FF2 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. Carrying the TP2501 manufacturer grade, this insert is designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond shape (DNMG insert style), a negative rake geometry, and a honed cutting edge for consistent performance across multiple passes. Four usable cutting edges per insert extend tool life. The FF2 chip breaker geometry targets finishing and light roughing applications in steel and related alloys.
This insert is suited for turning operations in general machining and production environments. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P class), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (M class) and cast iron (K class). Applicable operations include turning, facing, boring, and back turning, making it a multi-use option for shops running varied work. Material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 are supported. The insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO code of DNMG150404-FF2 and an industry standard number of DNMG431-FF2.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders accepting a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.2028-inch hole diameter and clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods. Compatible with toolholder systems conforming to ANSI and ISO DNMG insert standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Verify the toolholder pocket is clean and free of chips before clamping, as debris under the insert seat affects surface finish and insert life. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut or apply the insert to workpiece materials outside its rated ISO classifications without confirming suitability with tooling engineering.
