The SECO 02959934 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG-M3 series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. It carries the industry-standard designation WNMG433-M3 and ISO code WNMG080412-M3. The insert features a Duratomic CVD multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The trigon (80-degree included angle) geometry delivers six usable cutting edges per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost. The M3 chip breaker geometry and chamfered and honed cutting edge make it well suited for medium-to-finish turning passes on steel and stainless steel.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel (ISO material code P, grades P10 through P35) and secondary use on stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). Typical applications include boring, facing, and turning on production CNC lathes in job shops and high-volume manufacturing environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand toolholders. It accepts clamp, pin, and lever-lock holding methods, giving machinists flexibility across a wide range of toolholder systems. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3228 inches, supporting both roughing passes and finishing work within that range.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for WNMG433-M3 toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick trigon insert with a 3/64-inch corner radius and lever-lock, clamp, or pin holding method.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Always index or replace the insert with the machine in a full stop and lockout state. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before engaging the clamping mechanism to avoid micro-chatter and premature edge failure. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 0.3228 inches; operating beyond this value risks insert fracture and potential workpiece or machine damage.
