The SECO 02959933 is a WNMG432-M3 series indexable turning insert designed for general-purpose metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr Duratomic multilayer coating in grade TP2501, it delivers reliable wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The trigon (W) insert shape provides an 80-degree included angle with a neutral hand orientation. With 6 cutting edges per insert and an M3 chip breaker geometry featuring a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, this insert balances productivity and edge security across a range of depth-of-cut conditions. Weighs approximately 0.02 pounds per piece.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations on steel (ISO P10, P20, P30, P35), stainless steel (ISO M), and cast iron (ISO K) workpieces. It fits standard WNMG toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Typical applications include medium-roughing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous materials in both production shop and job shop environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of these inserts in toolholder cartridges and boring bars.
Designed for use in standard WNMG toolholders accepting WNMG432 (ISO WNMG080408) inserts with clamp, pin, or lever lock retention. Meets ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop and all axes locked out before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating tool specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without rocking or over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Dispose of worn cutting edges according to local regulations for carbide tooling waste.
