The SECO 02959919 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal removal in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. It carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade with a Duratomic CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, engineered to extend tool life under demanding cutting conditions. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (CNMG160608-M3 ISO code), a neutral hand orientation, a chamfered and honed cutting edge, and the M3 chip breaker geometry for general-purpose roughing and medium turning. Four usable cutting edges per insert are available, and the part accepts clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Weight is 0.04 pounds.
This insert is suited for facing, boring, and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in job shop and production environments. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). Material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 are within the recommended application range. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die specialists, and CNC operators in metalworking shops are the typical end users. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screw when seating the insert to ensure consistent clamping force without over-torquing the lock mechanism. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a fresh edge.
