The SECO 02959820 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG432-MF2 series, designed for indexable toolholders used in CNC turning, boring, and facing operations. It features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating (TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr) that improves wear resistance and tool life on hard-to-machine workpiece materials. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 1/2-inch inscribed circle. Four cutting edges are available per insert, making it a cost-effective option for production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production facilities will find this insert well-suited to general-purpose turning programs targeting steel and stainless steel.
This insert is primarily intended for machining steel (ISO material code P) and is also rated for stainless steel and cast iron (ISO material codes M and K). It fits operations involving external turning, boring, and facing at moderate to aggressive material removal rates. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing to medium cuts, and the chamfered and honed cutting edge style provides a stable edge for consistent surface finish. Applicable material grades include P10, P20, P30, and P35, covering a broad range of carbon and alloy steels.

Installation is performed by CNC machinists or toolroom technicians following standard indexable insert exchange procedures. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder secured before removing or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer's specification when tightening clamp screws — do not overtighten, as this can crack the insert. Inspect the seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert edge.
