The SECO 02959761 is a CCMT-series solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC turning applications. It carries the TP1501 manufacturer grade and features a Duratomic CVD coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, providing a strong cutting edge suited for finish and semi-finish passes. With two cutting edges and a chamfered and honed edge preparation, it delivers consistent performance on steel and cast iron workpieces. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in standard CCMT toolholders.
This insert is rated primarily for steel (ISO material code P, grades P10 and P20) and secondarily for cast iron and hard materials (ISO codes K and H). Its MF2 chipbreaker geometry supports boring, facing, and turning operations with a positive rake angle for reduced cutting forces. The inscribed circle measures 1/4 inch (0.2500 inches), insert thickness is 3/32 inch (0.0937 inches), and maximum depth of cut is 0.2362 inches. The screw-clamping hole diameter is 0.1142 inches. These dimensions make it appropriate for light-to-medium material removal in production turning environments where tight tolerances and consistent chip control are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CCMT-style toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, 80-degree diamond insert with screw clamping. Compatible with boring, facing, and turning applications on steel, cast iron, and hard materials per ISO material codes P, K, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Verify seating and runout before resuming cutting operations.
