The SECO 02956351 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNMG332-FF2 series, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TP2501 grade with a Duratomic CVD multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering high wear resistance across steel and stainless steel applications. The insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and a 0.3750-inch inscribed circle diameter. The FF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, producing controlled chip flow at light to moderate depths of cut up to 0.5748 inches. Four usable cutting edges are available per insert, making it an efficient choice for high-volume production environments.
This insert is suited for finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces, covering ISO material groups P, M, and K. Typical applications include back turning, facing, profiling, and general OD turning. The neutral hand orientation accommodates a wide range of tool holder setups. It conforms to both ANSI insert code VNMG332 and ISO insert code VNMG160408-FF2, allowing it to seat in any compliant VNMG-style holder. The insert is held by clamp, pin, or lever lock depending on the toolholder configuration in use. This insert is commonly used in job shops, automotive machining cells, and production turning operations where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and all axes are in a safe position before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and confirm the clamping mechanism is secured before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque for the insert retention method in use.
