It carries the TP2501 grade designation and features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — engineered to extend tool life on steel and stainless steel applications. The insert has a 35-degree diamond shape (V), a neutral hand orientation, and a honed cutting edge style. With four usable cutting edges and a 0.0079-inch corner radius, it delivers consistent performance across a range of material removal rates. The FF2 chip breaker geometry targets finishing and semi-finishing cuts on ductile workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for external turning, facing, back turning, and profiling operations on steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), and cast iron (ISO K) workpieces. It fits standard VNMG toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock insert holding methods. Typical applications include production turning on manual and CNC lathes in automotive, general machining, and precision component shops. The TP2501 grade falls within material grades P10 through P35, making it appropriate for moderate to interrupted cuts on carbon and alloy steels. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before seating or indexing the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the clamping screw — do not overtighten lever lock or pin clamp hardware.
