The SECO 02956347 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG-FF2 series, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries an industry standard designation of WNMG431-FF2 and is manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting conditions. The FF2 chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge style suit finishing and semi-finishing passes. With six available cutting edges and compatibility with clamp, pin, and lever-lock holding systems, this insert is suited for machinists and CNC operators working production turning applications.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel as its primary workpiece material, with stainless steel and cast iron as secondary materials. It falls into material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35, making it appropriate for a broad range of carbon and alloy steel stock as well as harder ferrous materials. The neutral hand configuration allows use in standard right-hand tooling setups. Typical applications include general-purpose production turning in job shops and manufacturing environments where consistent tool life and surface finish are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard supply insert for WNMG431-FF2 toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO WNMG080404 specifications. Compatible with clamp, pin, and lever-lock style toolholders accepting WNMG series inserts.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and secure with the appropriate clamping method before engaging a cut. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw and inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before each index.
