The SECO 02956336 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SCMT-M5 series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the SCMT432-M5 industry standard designation and uses the TP2501 manufacturer grade with a Duratomic CVD coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. The square insert geometry delivers a 90-degree included angle, a 7-degree relief angle (clearance code C), and a 0.0315-inch corner radius with a chamfered and honed cutting edge. Four usable cutting edges are available per insert. This insert is suited for roughing to semi-finishing passes in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and K. Designed as a screw-clamp replacement insert for SCMT-style toolholders accepting a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle square insert. Compatible with boring, facing, and turning applications in steel (P10, P20, P30, P35), stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials. Maximum depth of cut is 0.4685 inches.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and the toolholder pocket is clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Tighten the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer-specified torque using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker orientation before resuming cutting operations.
