The SECO 02956322 is a TCMT-style triangular carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in industrial turning applications. Carrying the TP2501 manufacturer grade, this insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating system consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for elevated wear resistance and thermal stability. The 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 1/64 inch corner radius (0.0157 inches) make it well-suited for moderate to finish-depth turning passes. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation on steel and similar materials, making it a reliable choice for machinists running production or job-shop turning operations.
This insert is intended for use in external turning, back turning, boring, and facing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Its positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces, which is advantageous when machining steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The neutral hand orientation allows use in a range of toolholder configurations without directional restriction. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). Material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 are covered by this insert grade.
Designed for use in TCMT-compatible screw-on toolholders. ISO designation is TCMT16T304-MF2 and industry standard number is TCMT32.51-MF2. Compatible toolholders must accept a screw-clamped TCMT insert with a 0.1772 inch (4.50 mm) hole diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified insert screw when securing the insert to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
