The SECO 02956302 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning and boring operations. It features a diamond 80-degree insert shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. The insert is manufactured from carbide substrate and coated via CVD with a TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr multilayer Duratomic coating, designated grade TP2501. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0079-inch corner radius, and two usable cutting edges, this insert is suited for finishing to medium roughing passes on steel and related materials. It is installed by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for use in external turning, facing, and boring operations on a variety of workpiece materials. The primary target material is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and K. Recommended material grades are P10, P20, P30, and P35. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for light to medium finishing cuts with positive rake, making this insert a practical choice for achieving tight tolerances and consistent surface finish on steel components in both production and maintenance machining contexts.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-lock turning toolholders with a clearance code C and tolerance code M. Compatible with toolholders specifying a 0.25-inch inscribed circle CCMT insert seat. Suitable for ISO and ANSI-standard CCMT toolholder systems used in CNC lathes and boring bars.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all motion is locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate insert screw torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid seat damage or insert fracture. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or contamination before seating a new insert.
