The SECO 02897979 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 13 mm (0.5122 inch) diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and an AlCrN coating that extends tool life when cutting hard and abrasive materials. The overall length is 124 mm (4.886 inches) with a 77 mm (3.034 inch) flute length. The 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio delivers efficient chip evacuation in deeper holes. This bit is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production and job-shop environments.
The 02897979 is engineered for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials designated under ISO material codes P, M, K, and H. The spiral flute geometry and AlCrN coating make it well suited for CNC machining centers and drill presses running dry or with minimal coolant. No coolant-through feature is present, so external coolant or dry-cutting strategies apply. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 14 mm (0.5516 inch) in diameter and 45 mm (1.773 inches) in length, fitting standard toolholders and chucks accepting that shank diameter.

Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder or chuck to the recommended grip length before running the spindle. Because this bit has no coolant-through capability, use external flood coolant or an appropriate dry-cutting approach matched to the workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for wear or chipping before each use; carbide tooling is brittle and should never be subjected to impact loads or side forces beyond its rated application.
