The SECO 02897970 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit from the SD1105A series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It features an 11.70 mm (0.4844 inch) cutting diameter with a 140-degree point angle and an AlCrN (aluminum chromium nitride) coating that improves wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The drill has a two-flute right-hand spiral configuration with a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 14.00 mm in diameter. Overall length is 124.00 mm (4.8819 inches). It is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians in CNC and manual drilling operations.
This drill is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, and H. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports a maximum drilling depth of 60.00 mm (3.0315 inches). The flute length is 77.00 mm (3.0315 inches) and the shank length is 45.00 mm (1.7717 inches). It carries an ANSI specification designation and is suited to production environments where tool life and hole quality in ferrous and hard workpiece materials are priorities. Coolant-through capability is not included in this configuration.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses accepting a 14.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suited to drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials per SD1105A series application guidelines.
This drill bit is installed by machinists using standard drill chucks or collet-style tool holders rated for the 14.00 mm shank diameter. Confirm spindle runout is within acceptable tolerance before use, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Secure workpieces firmly before drilling and verify that cutting speeds and feed rates are appropriate for the workpiece material. Coolant-through is not supported by this tool; use external coolant or air blast as appropriate for the application.
