The SECO 02887234 is a CNMG432W-MF1 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN/TiN PVD coating under the CP500 manufacturer grade. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a negative rake angle and a 0-degree relief angle. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0315 inches. Designed for the MF1 chip breaker geometry with a honed cutting edge style, this insert delivers controlled chip formation in demanding turning applications. It carries four usable cutting edges and is held by clamp, pin, or lever lock toolholding systems. Licensed machinists and CNC turning technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for primary use on stainless steel workpieces and is also rated for steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. It supports boring, facing, and turning operations. Material grade designations M10, M20, and M30 indicate its suitability for medium to roughing passes on austenitic and ferritic stainless grades as well as general steels. The insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO code CNMG120408W-MF1, making it interchangeable wherever that designation is called out on a setup sheet. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 10 pieces per transaction.
Designed for use in CNMG-style insert seats that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 80-degree diamond insert with a 0.2028-inch hole diameter. Suitable for toolholders rated for clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. ISO designation CNMG120408W-MF1 applies for metric toolholder cross-referencing.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician following standard indexable insert change procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for the toolholder to ensure proper seating. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
