The SECO 02827895 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation SEEX09T3AFTN-M08, grade MK2050, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. This square, single-sided insert features a TiSiN and TiAlN PVD dual coating applied over a medium-grain carbide substrate, delivering hardness and thermal resistance suited to demanding cutting conditions. With a neutral rake angle, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a 20-degree relief angle, the insert provides four usable cutting edges per insert. It is installed via screw clamping and is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is designed primarily for milling cast iron, with secondary capability in steel and hard materials. The M08 chip breaker geometry is optimized to manage chip formation and cutting forces across a range of depths and feed rates. Typical applications include face milling, square shoulder milling, and copy milling on CNC machining centers handling ferrous workpieces. The insert is compatible with SECO cutter series R217.53-09 and R220.53-09 as specified by the manufacturer. It is sold individually and is suited to both production environments and maintenance tooling situations.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R217.53-09 and R220.53-09. Intended for machining cast iron as the primary workpiece material, with secondary application in steel and hard materials.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the screw-clamping method standard to SEEX-series insert pockets. Ensure the cutter body is properly secured and the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and torque the clamping screw according to the cutter body manufacturer specifications. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or wear before installing a new insert.
