The SECO 02827872 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation XOMX10T304TR-M09 in manufacturer grade MK2050. The insert features a parallelogram shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry at 10.6 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style. The dual-layer PVD coating — TiSiN over TiAlN — is applied to a medium-grain solid carbide substrate to deliver wear resistance in abrasive cutting conditions. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the right-hand configuration suits standard climb-milling and conventional-milling setups. Licensed machinists and tool-room technicians install this insert for face milling and shoulder milling operations.
This insert is designed for cutting cast iron as its primary workpiece material, with secondary applicability to steel and hard materials. Those material application codes are K, P, and H per ISO classification. The chip breaker designation M09 is suited to medium-depth milling passes. The insert is screw-held in the cutter body and is single-sided. Typical applications include production milling of cast iron housings, steel structural components, and hardened workpieces where a positive-rake geometry reduces cutting forces and heat generation.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R217.69-10 and R220.69-10. Insert size code is 10T304 within the XOMX-10 series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. The cutter body must be removed from the spindle and all machine motion must be locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the crew to the cutter body manufacturer's specification — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under uneven clamping load. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert.
