The SECO 02825907 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT 331-F1 series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a 35-degree diamond shape with a sharp cutting edge and a TiAlSiN multilayer PVD coating under the proprietary TH1000 grade designation. The F1 chip breaker geometry produces a positive rake angle suited for finishing and light profiling passes. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a corner radius of 0.0157 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.6142 inches, this insert is sized for moderate material removal on challenging workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, medical, and energy sectors install this insert type routinely.
This insert is rated primarily for superalloys and titanium as well as hard materials, matching SECO material grades S05 and H05. Typical applications include back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning where a sharp, wear-resistant edge is required to manage heat and work hardening in difficult alloys. The screw-holding method provides secure seating in compatible VBMT-style toolholders. Two cutting edges per insert extend usable tool life before replacement.
Designed for use in VBMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders. Rated for primary workpiece materials classified as superalloys and titanium (code S) and hard materials (code H), per SECO material grades S05 and H05. Multi-use applications include back turning, facing, profiling, and turning.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and shim for damage before installing a new cutting edge, and verify runout before resuming cutting.
