The SECO 02825871 is a CNMG432-M5 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlSiN finish applied via PVD process. It carries the TH1000 manufacturer grade and is designed for high-performance turning, facing, and boring operations. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a negative rake geometry. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches, it is suited for demanding stock removal and finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders for precision metal removal on difficult workpiece materials.
This insert is engineered primarily for cutting superalloys and titanium, as well as hard materials, making it appropriate for aerospace, medical, and energy-sector machining environments. The M5 chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip formation across a range of depths of cut and feed rates. It supports multi-use applications including turning, facing, and boring, and accommodates a maximum depth of cut of 0.4764 inches. The insert is held in the toolholder via clamp, pin, or lever-lock systems and provides four usable cutting edges per insert.
Designed for use in CNMG-style indexable toolholders that accept a 432 insert size with clamp, pin, or lever-lock retention. Conforms to ANSI and ISO CNMG120408-M5 dimensional standards, ensuring fitment with any compliant toolholder in that specification family.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and verify the clamping mechanism engages correctly before resuming cuts. Do not attempt to regrind or resharpen carbide inserts; rotate to a fresh cutting edge or replace when wear is detected.
