The SECO 02789612 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the manufacturer designation LPHT060310TR-ME05 in the MM4500 grade. It features a rectangle shape with a 90-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style. The CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating over a coarse-grain carbide substrate delivers wear resistance and thermal stability. With two cutting edges per insert, a 0.3343-inch maximum depth of cut, and a right-hand orientation, this insert is engineered for productive metal removal in milling operations on stainless steel, steel, superalloys, and titanium. Machinists and CNC tooling specialists install this style of insert in compatible indexable milling cutters.
This insert is suited for milling applications in both production and job-shop environments where stainless steel, carbon steel, superalloys, and titanium are the primary workpiece materials. The ME05 chip breaker geometry supports stable chip formation across a range of feed rates. The insert mounts via screw-clamping and is designed for single-sided use. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling operations on CNC machining centers. Compatible cutter series include R217.21-LP06 and R220.21-LP06 as specified by the manufacturer.
Designed for use in SECO milling cutter series R217.21-LP06 and R220.21-LP06 as specified by the manufacturer. Verify cutter body compatibility and insert pocket specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the cutter body is secured or removed from the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw and avoid over-torquing, which can crack the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
