The SECO 02787032 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNMG-FF2 series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries a PVD-applied multilayer TiAlN and TiN coating under the CP500 manufacturer grade, which is engineered for performance on stainless steel and other demanding workpiece materials. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V), a neutral hand orientation, a honed cutting edge style, and a negative rake geometry. With four usable cutting edges and an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches, this insert delivers consistent tool life in medium to heavy turning applications.
This insert is suited for back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning operations, primarily on stainless steel workpieces. Its CP500 grade and multilayer PVD coating also make it applicable on steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium. The FF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation during these operations. It fits standard VNMG toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock insert-holding methods, making it compatible with a wide range of commercial toolholder bodies used in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in standard VNMG toolholders accepting clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M); secondary applications include steel (P), cast iron (K), and super-alloys and titanium (S). Material grades M10, M20, and M30 apply.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing inserts. Confirm the toolholder clamping mechanism is clean and free of chips before installing the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw, and verify insert seating before resuming cuts.
