The SECO 02786790 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG431-FF2 series, designed for precision metal removal in CNC turning applications. It carries a CP500 manufacturer grade with a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating for heat and wear resistance. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake geometry. Cutting edge style is honed for consistent edge integrity. With 4 usable cutting edges and a FF2 chip breaker geometry, this insert is suited for general and finishing turning passes on difficult-to-machine materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and index this insert on toolholders compatible with the CNMG mounting standard.
This insert is primarily rated for stainless steel (ISO material code M, grades M10, M20, M30) and is also applicable to steel, cast iron, and super-alloys and titanium. Multi-use capability covers boring, facing, and turning operations. The FF2 chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage chip flow in interrupted and continuous cuts on ductile and work-hardening materials. The 0.0157-inch corner radius and honed cutting edge reduce built-up edge tendency when cutting austenitic and duplex stainless grades. This insert meets both ANSI and ISO standards and carries ISO code CNMG120404-FF2, industry standard number CNMG431-FF2.

Installation and indexing of turning inserts should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators with the machine powered down and spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for the CNMG toolholder in use. Inspect the insert seat and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Dispose of spent inserts per applicable shop safety and sharps-handling procedures.
