Product Description

The SECO 02755323 is a VBMT-series indexable turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a solid carbide substrate with a multilayer PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating, and an MF2 chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing cuts. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert thickness is 0.1874 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0079 inches. With two usable cutting edges and a positive rake and side clearance configuration, this insert delivers controlled chip flow and consistent surface finish in demanding turning applications.

This insert is suited for back turning, facing, profiling, and general turning on stainless steel, steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. The CP500 grade provides moderate to high wear resistance combined with sufficient toughness for finishing passes on difficult-to-machine materials. It is held in the toolholder by a screw-clamp method and is compatible with standard VBMT toolholder pockets. The MF2 chip breaker geometry targets finishing-depth cuts up to 0.6339 inches, making it a practical choice for close-tolerance work on production turning setups.

Key Features

  • 35-degree diamond (V-shape) insert geometry with positive rake for reduced cutting forces
  • MF2 chip breaker optimized for finishing operations on steel, cast iron, and superalloys
  • Multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating on carbide substrate for wear resistance and thermal stability
  • 2 cutting edges per insert; neutral hand orientation for flexible toolholder use
  • Screw-clamp insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating
  • Conforms to ANSI insert code VBMT330.5 and ISO insert code VBMT160402

Compatibility

Designed for use in VBMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 35-degree diamond insert with a 0.375-inch inscribed circle. Suitable for back turning, facing, profiling, and turning applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloy workpieces classified under material grades M10, M20, and M30.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torque-limiting screwdriver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid cracking the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability.
