The SECO 02754849 is a cermet turning insert in the DCMT series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond shape (DCMT insert style) with a TiAlSiN multilayer PVD coating applied over a cermet substrate, offering the grade designation TP1030. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, the corner radius is 0.0079 inches, and insert thickness is 0.1563 inches. With a positive rake geometry and F1 chip breaker, this insert is suited for light to medium finishing passes where consistent surface finish and edge sharpness are priorities. Two cutting edges are available per insert.
This insert is intended for finish and semi-finish turning of steel and stainless steel in both production and job-shop environments. Multi-use applications include back turning, boring, facing, and turning. The screw-on holding method is standard for DCMT-style toolholders. Maximum depth of cut is 0.4488 inches, and insert length is 0.9134 inches. The positive rake and sharp cutting edge reduce cutting forces, making this insert appropriate for thin-wall components and applications where minimizing deflection is critical. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking shops are the primary installers of this product.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Industry standard number DCMT32.50.5-F1 and ISO code DCMT11T302-F1 apply. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO code M).
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key for the clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as cermet substrates are brittle. Verify insert seating and clearance geometry before resuming cutting operations.
