The SECO 02754807 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT series, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating over a carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert carries the CP500 manufacturer grade and uses an MF2 chip breaker geometry optimized for light-to-medium finishing passes. With an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.3750-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0078-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for close-tolerance finishing where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. It is installed via screw-clamping and delivers a positive rake for reduced cutting forces.
This insert is intended for use on ferrous and exotic workpiece materials in production turning environments. Its primary workpiece material rating is stainless steel, with secondary ratings covering steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. Typical applications include external and internal turning, boring, and facing operations on CNC lathes. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style reduces chipping risk at entry, making it well suited for stainless and high-temperature alloy components common in aerospace, medical, and general manufacturing. Material grades M10, M20, and M30 are supported, covering a range from finishing to semi-finishing stock removal depths.
Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for CCMT inserts; ISO designation CCMT09T302-MF2 and industry standard number CCMT32.50.5-MF2. Compatible with standard screw-clamp CCMT toolholders accepting an 80-degree diamond insert with a 0.3750-inch inscribed circle and 0.1772-inch hole diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians following standard screw-clamp insert seating procedures. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Power down the machine and engage the spindle lock before changing inserts. Do not over-torque the clamp screw; follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specification for the applicable screw size.
