The SECO 02754783 is a CCGT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in turning, facing, and boring operations. It carries a CP500 manufacturer grade with a multilayer PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability during cutting. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a 3/32-inch thickness. With a positive rake angle, chamfered and honed cutting edge, and MF2 chip breaker geometry, this insert is engineered for controlled chip formation and stable performance in finishing and semi-finishing passes.
This insert is primarily suited for machining stainless steel, with secondary application in steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. It is a neutral-hand insert compatible with screw-clamped toolholders. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-to-medium depth cuts up to 0.2402 inches, making it appropriate for close-tolerance work on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job shop environments. Machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC programmers working in aerospace, medical, and general metalworking applications will find this insert relevant to stainless and difficult-material turning operations.
Designed for screw-clamped CCGT-style toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.1142-inch hole diameter. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code CCGT060204-MF2, industry standard number CCGT21.51-MF2. Suitable for toolholders specifying C insert shape code, G tolerance code, and C clearance code.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, power down the spindle and engage the machine lock per the equipment manufacturer's safety procedure. Seat the insert fully in the pocket before tightening the clamping screw, and verify that the cutting edge and chip breaker orientation are correct for the intended operation. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris that could affect insert seating and dimensional accuracy.
