The SECO 02743148 is a single-end carbide cutoff insert engineered for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a CP500 manufacturer grade with a micrograin carbide substrate and a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating that resists heat and wear during interrupted cuts and continuous parting passes. The cutting width measures 1.98 mm (0.0780 inches), making it well suited for narrow-groove and cutoff work where dimensional accuracy and clean sidewall finish are critical. The neutral lead angle with a 6-degree geometry promotes straight, balanced cutting forces. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in clamp-style toolholders.
This insert is designed for use in Series 150.10 clamp-style parting and grooving systems. It fits toolholders configured for an insert seat size 2 and is appropriate for shop-floor applications ranging from general-purpose turning on steel and stainless to materials where the TiAlN/TiN PVD coating provides a thermal barrier advantage. It is suited to production turning environments where consistent groove width and reliable tool life between index cycles are priorities.
Designed for use with Series 150.10 clamp-style parting and grooving toolholders that accept an insert seat size 2 and a 1.98 mm cutting width insert.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be stopped and the toolholder secured in the turret before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamp screw; do not overtighten. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper registration and cutting geometry.
