The SECO 02730814 is a CNMG 432-MF5 series indexable turning insert designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. Manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer TiAlSiN PVD coating and TH1000 grade designation, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting zone. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape, a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch (0.0315-inch) corner radius. The MF5 chip breaker geometry paired with a chamfered and honed cutting edge style targets consistent chip control. Four cutting edges are available per insert, reducing tooling cost per edge. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists install and index this insert in production turning, boring, and facing operations.
This insert is suited for machining superalloys, titanium, and hard materials — workpiece material codes S and H — where edge toughness and coating adhesion are critical. Material grades S05 and H05 indicate suitability for light to medium cutting parameters in these material families. The MF5 geometry supports finishing and semi-finishing passes. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both left- and right-hand toolholders depending on the application setup. Compatible multi-use applications include turning, facing, and boring in CNC lathe and turning center environments.

Indexable insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or indexing any insert. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified fastener for the toolholder clamping system — clamp, pin, or lever lock as applicable — to ensure proper seating without cracking the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh cutting edge.
