The SECO 02725711 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the MDT series, it carries a CP500 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating over a micrograin carbide substrate. The insert measures 0.728 inches in length, 0.112 inches in cutting height, and delivers a maximum cutting width of 0.079 inches with a corner radius of 0.008 inches. The LCMF190202-0200-FT catalog designation confirms its insert style and size code, making cross-referencing straightforward for tool crib and procurement staff. Machining professionals and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for grooving applications across a wide range of workpiece materials. The primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S cover hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steels, non-ferrous materials, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys. It is appropriate for both light and moderate grooving passes in production turning environments, including OD grooving, face grooving, and multi-directional cutting paths where neutral hand orientation is required. The FT chipbreaker geometry is matched to controlled chip evacuation in these material categories.
Designed for use with MDT series toolholders accepting LCMF190202 insert style inserts. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by SECO for this grade and chipbreaker combination.
Installation is performed by a CNC tooling technician or machinist. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or clamping key specified for the MDT series toolholder to achieve proper insert clamping without over-torquing the seat. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before each insert change to maintain dimensional accuracy and prevent premature edge failure.
