The SECO 02696774 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and part-off operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Part-Off series specification, it features a 3.1 mm (0.122 inch) cutting width, a 6-degree neutral lead angle, and an uncoated bright finish in manufacturer grade HX. The insert seats via a clamp-style holding method and is rated for universal primary workpiece material, making it suitable across a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous stock. At 0.354 inch overall length, it is a compact, single-end insert intended as a direct replacement in compatible SECO parting toolholders. Installation requires no special surface prep beyond standard insert-seat cleaning.
This insert is used in parting and grooving applications on manual and CNC turning equipment in both production-shop and job-shop environments. The neutral hand and neutral lead angle orientation make it a straightforward fit for standard radial part-off operations. The HX grade solid carbide construction with an uncoated bright finish performs well on a wide variety of workpiece materials, including general steels, stainless, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys, consistent with the universal material classification and C2 material grade designation. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for SECO Part-Off series parting toolholders that accept insert size code 3 with a 3.1 mm cutting width and clamp-style retention.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped before accessing the toolholder. Clean the insert seat and clamping surfaces thoroughly before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specification printed in the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert seat for wear or damage before installing a replacement insert.
