The SECO 02684284 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for precision grooving and turning operations in CNC machining environments. Built to the CP500 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, this insert delivers consistent tool life across a range of workpiece materials. It carries a cutting height of 0.157 inches, a maximum cutting width of 0.157 inches, and a corner radius of 0.008 inches. The neutral hand orientation and double-end configuration make it adaptable for left- or right-hand tooling setups. It belongs to SECO's MDT series and is intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians in production environments.
This insert is suited for turning and grooving applications across multiple material categories, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, hardened materials, and superalloys — corresponding to material codes P, M, K, N, H, and S. Its micrograin carbide substrate and PVD coating support consistent performance in both roughing and finishing passes. The GG chipbreaker geometry and double-end design extend usable tool life per insert. Typical applications include external grooving, face grooving, and multi-directional turning on CNC lathes and turning centers in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use in SECO MDT series toolholders. Insert style is LCGF with insert size code 130402. Confirm toolholder compatibility against SECO MDT series specifications before installation.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not hand-tighten clamping screws without a calibrated tool. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating the insert, and verify the insert is fully seated and locked before resuming operation.
